Polo shirts were so popular on golf courses, people started calling them golf shirts. Although the words "golf shirt" and "polo shirt" are used interchangeably, in this document, we will call them "golf shirts".
There was a time when a golf shirt was just a golf shirt.
Today, almost every major apparel brand offers a line of golf shirts. Men’s golf shirts are now available in what were once considered women’s colors and women’s golf shirts are no longer smaller versions of men’s, with silhouettes made specifically for a woman’s figure.

Although the most popular fabric for golf shirts is knitted cotton pique or jersey, some high-end brands offer golf shirts in high-performance fabrics, knitted silk, merino wool or other fabrics.

Embroidery - The default placement for a logo embroidered on a golf shirt used to be the left chest. Embroidery placements now include shoulder sleeves, sleeve cuffs or on the back about three inches below the neckline.
Tackle Twill - A form of appliqué in which letters, numbers or designs are cut from a piece of fabric and sewn onto a garment.
Printed Golf Shirts

The methods we use to personalize golf shirts are not suitable for all logos because more often than not, the logos were designed for print. With print, letters can be much smaller and colors can be incorporated more fluidly than with embroidery, appliqué or tackle twill.

In addition, because of the methods we use, we cannot personalize golf shirts weighing less than 5.5 ounces, which eliminates the lightest weight golf shirts and those made in performance fabrics from your choices.

Therefore, for some logos or designs, printed golf shirts are a better option and a lower cost alternative to ones that are embroidered or tackle twilled.
