In
1989, I was designing and making custom chef jackets in my New York City studio
when I got the idea to use denim and colors other than white.
This caught the attention of CNN’s magazine
On The Menu that led to a piece that aired on 3/6/93.
Unfortunately, I did not have the financial backing, manufacturing facility, or
distribution network to take advantage of the exposure brought about by the
international news coverage. This enabled uniform companies to capitalize on my
ideas. Nearly
every uniform company that sells to the food service industry now offers denim
and different color choices.
Having learned my lesson, I focused on creating the best jackets that I could possibly make. I did my research, and found that the finest, most sophisticated cotton in the world is American Pima cotton, grown exclusively in the American West and Southwest. This special fiber is up to 50% stronger than other cotton varieties, and is so rare that it represents just 3% of US cotton production.
The name Supima® is a licensed trademark owned by the Supima® Association of America, and is the guarantee that the consumer is getting 100% American Pima cotton. This is the only cotton used in Crooked Brook® garments.
Because of my unparalleled attention to the detail in tailoring, I was awarded a Supima® licensing agreement. These contracts are not awarded lightly. The applicants must meet requirements insuring the highest level of quality and integrity for any products bearing the Supima® brand.
I have invested in a state-of-the-art digitizing and embroidery system and expanded my search for unique buttons made of bone, glass, horn, shell and stone. Further, I have opened my second studio, in Utica, NY; located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, and assembled a crew of exceptional dress-makers, shirt-makers, and tailors.
The focus of the entire line is absolute quality and value.
Each jacket is made-to-order; not cranked out by machine operators. We have no desire to produce the most, only the best. The making of fine garments calls for time, care, costly materials, and painstaking inspection. The result is a garment that is truly a work-of-art. Simply put, these are the highest quality chef jackets on earth.

Pam Geren
